Hi All,

Hope someone may be able to help ?

1995 Xr600r , it`s very easy to start normally first kick, seems to run and idle ok most of the time but after a run and let it idle it some times just cut`s out, when it does it starts up straight away again first kick.

Any ideas ??

Thanks Bob.

so many things it could be

if electrical check HOT AND COLD

stator resistance
coil resistance
plug cap

wire harness for chafe

if carb

check jetting
plug color or chop

other possibilities since it starts right back up

gas cap vent or hose

blockage of fuel lines, clean carb?

The reason I say HOT AND COLD is if there is a wide gapor margin between resistance in the stator(most common failure on xr6) it will tell you that you exciter widnings are shot, if they are you have a simple $150 dollar fix

I reccomend ricky stator as they have EXCELLENT customer service and you also gain some extra wattage for lighting or a dualsport kit

you also have baja designs, electrosport etc...your pick!

good luck

ps. if its NOT any of these things then look at your cdi, its rare failure on the xr6 unlike the xrl

and if its STILL not the cdi then look for a cracked HEAD, boingk!

Hi,

Just thought i`d let you know that on my first investigation i found

one of the carb boot rubbers wasn`t seated right,
running way too rich, so mixture corrected and plug cleaned,
Gas tank vent hose was blocked,

Took it for a run this morning and tried to get it to stall but nothing hopefully it`s fixed.

Cheers Bob.

I always like the threads that end well and where the op´s take the time and have the decency to say what SOLVED the problem, that way those with new issues and problems can reference these posts with a simple google search or using the search function here

kudos Im glad I could help a bit
