06 CRF 250 bog problem

I have an 06 crf 250 and i understand they have terrible carbs in the first place but i'm still wondering what is wrong with mine.

Problem:

the issue i've been having is low-mid range bog, (going down a straight the other day half way through the gas it bogs and picks back up again)

In most cases however it has been bogging so bad going into a corner it dies and i have to pretty much bump-start it to get it going again

(i'm positive i have enough entry speed going into the corner.. no thats not the problem..)

I dont have much problem with the bogging while in neutral giving it a bit of gas like most people however.

I do have a boyesen quickshot on it, its the old model, if this could be causing the problem just let me know.. i dont know how it could be but still a suggestion, i just checked the jets about 15 minutes ago, they are both clear.

first off get rid of the Boyesen cover. Go back to stock at least.

A few problems cause the bog in the carb.

But you may have other issues. What is your valve clearances like? when is the last time you did a top end? Low compression can cause a lot of motor issues.

Second the ethanol gas is doing no favors for anyone. So at least run a 20% race gas mix.

Ok back to the carb. Set the float level. From the factory it is to high thus allows fuel to flood the bore when landing. Second, an adjustable leak jet like the Factory R&D unit will help you dial out the bog. But you may need to do more basics like cleaning, lubricating and adjusting the hot start. Doing base line jetting for your altitude and also adjusting the fuel screw properly.

best 2 mods to your carb: Adjustable leak jet and extended fuel screw.
