17" tires needed

I need some tires for my KTM 520. I've got 17" wheels coming (5.0 rear). I need some tires by next week for a race at Jennings on Saturday. I would prefer some rain race tires as I understand these work best when running a dirt section opposed to just the road course. I don't have a groover or know how to properly groove tires, so slicks aren't a good option at this point.

I've done some research on this and other sites and have found lots of comments like "maxxis tires work well". When I go to the Maxxis website, there are many different motard model numbers of tires, different compounds of each model, and also several sizes to choose from. I'm hoping someone can give more detailed information to help me (especially with my particular bike).

My bigger problem is trying to find someone who has tires in stock at a good price. If someone can point me to a knowledgeable dealer, I would appreciate the help.

Hiya, I'm the MICHELIN racing tire guy for this part of the country. I have been doing Motard stuff since the FIRST go-around back in the 70's

I have diferent tires for 3.5 front, 3.25 front, or 3.0X17 inch front wheels; I have tires for 4.25 or 4.5 or 5 inch rear wheels and then other tires for 5.5X17 back wheels.

A set for your bike would be... between $100 a set for some ones I have on sale, to $345.00 a set for the stuff like I send Schwantz... er..shouldn't be a name dropper :busted: But call fast cause I have to leave for a race this Wed... E-mail me for the Phone No. Or look in "Roadracing World" Walt Schaefer Entp. LLC. Michelin racing tires ad.

Walt,

Which models are you talking about? How much for an S2 front and H2 rear(160 or 150)?

Also, where does Frank Kinsey fall into this whole Michelin empire?

Frank Kinsey is the Regional Distributor for Fla. and Southeast CCS Roadraces. He carries most of the tires (like the 120 S2 and the 150 and 160 H2's).. Prices would be the same from him or from myself. I am the National Dist for the East. Frank has some Motard customers, however I have been working with guys running big MX bikes in roadracing, "Outlaw" Dirt track, and Pike's Peak Hillclimb since the 70's. And I have some tires that Frank wouldn't since they arn't really used in Roadracing very often.. I also have some stock that I have on sale ... Older stock but still good.
Frank is an INVALUABLE part of the "Rubber Impire" He's the "Sultan of North and South Florida, Savannah and the Hinterlands"
