Hello!

Im looking to get a bike soon and im looking into a crf250r. but my body said that hondas are junk, and you have to adjust their vlves very like 30hrs, but i ride hard but not too hard. Im nmot that kind of person who rides the rev limiter 24/7. Thats not me. I usually ride trails, and i would like to go to a track, and jump and stuff like that.

thanks!

nope,
had one myself
done the valves, adjusted, put the better ones in and still the same problem
wouldn't recommend it.
honda have a real problem with their 250 range with valve issues that they wont rectify.

but if your happy to keep spending money doing the valves
its a well set up bike.

+1, had my 09 all year, valves havent moved once. that's with racing every weekend and riding 1-2 times a week. just change your oil, and keep your airfilter clean.

That says a lot right there, no trouble from my bike or my brothers.

you guys just cant ride a 250 properly,
one day when you learn to ride properly, you will have problems.
peace.

I have a fully built 43hp 09 CRF250R with 30 hours on it and it still starts first kick cold. Change the oil and air filter every ride, no problems!

I understand maintenance but change oil every ride!!!! I have a whole family that rides and if i have to do that i need a new bike. I hear things like 30 hours without a problem and i can only say i would hope not. Racing harescrambles you can get 30 hours real fast. I got 60 hours at vet b speed on mine and it is shot i had to adjust valves twice and now the bike needs valves and cam chain and top end. I hate to be a cheap guy but once again i have a whole family to keep bikes running for. I am seriously thinking of fixing it selling it and going blue 450 or 250 two stroke. I love the bike but i just can't keep throwing money at it. I change air filter every ride and oil every 8 hours. This post is not meant to insult anyone I just want the guy who started it to know that not everyone is getting good use out of these bikes. I have to admit my riding partner who owns a shop did warn me and I didn't listen.:banghead:

Oil every 8 hours ? Wow, that's asking for trouble. These bikes only hold 0.7 quarts of oil. I think that causes many problems. I change oil very frequently, it takes 5 minutes. Change filter every 8 hours. Bike has 30 hrs and starts easily - never checked valves yet. Preventive maintenance is my preferred maintenance and i'd rather do a $3 oil change than major engine work. Hondas are as reliable as any other of the major manufacturers - there are no bad bikes - they all have their pros and cons.
To the haters trying to get honda owners to bite on your childish hate posts claiming we don't know how to ride - go pop your pimples and ask mom to buy you another bike - christmas is coming.

just because you have a fully built bike with 43 hp doesnt mean you know how to ride it properly, just means you have to much money and should have bought a 450 instead of wasting it.

from ym experiance honda valves and pistons have short life span's, on 4 differant bikes valve life has varried between 75 hours and 11 hours on stock valves, 06-08 model 250R's all owned by the same person, and stock piston's seem to be roasted by the 50 hour mark or less, rings at around 30 hours, JE pistons seem to get 70-80 hours however before they're out of spec.
