I have rode a dr 350, not a power house of a bike, or well suspended. I guess you can dish it out but can't take it then. Did I hurt your feelings? Im addicted to trash talk forgive me. The bullshit stops when the hammer drops. you know when the ride is, come join us and we will let the riding or the bike do the talking. see you there?

This ride is coming up hard and fast. This one is more trail than any event I've been to. More than the AA300 as well. From the positive remarks of those who attented the AA300, you're gonna have a ball on this. You need to holler at Kelloggss here on TT for any intricate instructions on the HQ.

We plan to rip stuff up for 2 days straight on hillclimbs, rocks, and through plenty of creeks. Bring a gas can to keep at the HQ. We'll swing back mid-day and refuel.

Hey, I remember that hill lots of roots & good times riding the ridge tops once you got up there:thumbsup:

SRM....I gotta give to ya....lol You seemed like the quiet type when we rode last time. You & kelloggs both ain't slowpokes:moon: We were all hauling ass at times... You can be all "The Rider" you want to be ...however a DR350 is about 40HP short of the 530 & IMHO just not designed to do what a 530 can do. SRM360 can hold his own in those mountains. :p
I am hoping to make it up with Kirk, will only know last minute....
Cheers

its a bit far for me otherwise i would, it looks like paradise there. ill make it down there eventually. i wasnt insulting ktms, i wasnt trying to dish anything out, i was trying to complement the guy. i just used it as a example cuz thats what 80% of people ride up here in the d/s and enduro scene.

I can't help but talk trash. I try to not do it some times but just can't help it. We need to get together and ride again. Make sure what is and is not open, and just for the fun of it.

Maybe the flooding that's going on right now will wash out the two roads they tanktrapped. :)

that would be great if it did, I think it would be hard work but we can go up the trail we started down first and then turned around on. I did go look at the bottom. It looked do able to me.

Pressley:

Best way I can put it, we are in the mountains. Yes there will be washed-out sections, but this is nothing like FL or GA where water stands when it rains. It'll just be muddy as hell. There's nothing flat enough around here for there to be standing water.

There was a wild rumor going around that everything in the area is tanktrapped. Not true. Only 2 roads out of the (?) 15 we'll be on are tanktrapped at the moment. In mid-October, it's on.

Just thinking out loud here, so never mind the grinding noises and smoke pouring out the ears... :smirk: I'm planning on camping Fri/Sat nights - see we have a shower, toilet, maybe porta-john, and should bring drinking water (hops flavored, of course!):p

Now, the main reason I do anything is primarily to EAT: Are we (campers) plannin' on grabbin' grub somewhere local on the way back each evening, doing something up (burgers, brauts, dogs) back at the camp, killing a deer with a spare tube and a rock on the way back and roasting the sumbitch on the bonfire?? :busted:

Ah, what else? I believe I read there is gas in Caney Fork, and assume we'll snag lunch on the road each day?

Sorry for all the questions - I might possibly ride out and I need to know whether I should pack the meat saw or not re: getting the feedbag on... :D

There is Gas at Caney Fork convenience store & minimal snack type food available. Sylva is about 20mins away for better selection of food & "drink"
Just wait till you see Kelloggs driveway.....lol

I thought that during our "propane bottles in hot coals science experiments" at the PA ride, we destroyed all the camp grills in a 5 mile vicinity?!? You were holdin' out on us?!?!? :smirk: :bonk: :p

The general plan is to ride all day. We have no plans for a lunch because you're 5,500ft. up in the middle of nothing, not even cell service. There is a gas station at the bottom of Caney Fork. I don't believe we'll get more than 60 miles in on either day.

Bring your own food and booze. It would be nice to have an unofficial cookout......but I didn't say that.

The launch pad is here, near Cullowhee, Sylva, Tuckasegee, and Dillsboro:

10-4.

5.5K and no stores/cell service actually sounds about perfect.

re: unofficial cookout - how 'bout it folks? Either potluck style (someone brings chips/someone brings buns/ a few bring burgers, brauts, dogs, chops, etc - so on for condiments/beverages/etc..); or, eat what ya brung?

Sounds like Yanni & co. are busting their humps with routes, guiding & lodging - it'd be nice to show our appreciation this way, eh?

Shoot yeah guys, let's do this. Unofficial cookouts are always better....you say there isn't gonna be any food and 100 people bring grills. :)

Unfortunately it does. At the AA300, the mid-point of the ride was lunch because civilization existed nearby...although it still took 70-something miles just to get there. :smirk:

When you're up in where we're at, the only places for gas/food is down on 107 (LONG way down) or I don't know....Rosman?? I'll get up with Kelloggss and SRM360 but I believe we're stuck on the lunch deal because we'll be so far away from anything.
