Man I've never seen flat ground like in my life, with so much fast/flowing road. I can see hitting the ton on that stuff wouldn't be outta the question. :ride:

I've got this ride in October. My buddy BentAero is just coming off an ACL and has been down and out all of this year and just started riding again a couple weeks ago. He's my travelin' bud and we generally do 3 big ones a year...last year Renfro, Oceola in FL., and Southern Ohio.

So far we've done nothing this year and he's back in action. We're gonna do one before the end of the year. We've got 2 on the plate, LBL and god-knows-where in Michigan. He mentioned Tomahawk Trail? This will be in September, and September 20th is my B-day.

I'll definitely be hangin' with my homey for our first event/roadtrip of the year. That's one helluva offer, and I appreciate it. We just don't have the roads really around here (that ain't on the side of a cliff) to wick 'em that hard but DAMN that looks the ticket. Honestly, I don't think I've had any of the bikes (KLX/XR/XRR) over 70mph, and that's pavement included.

I have one road around here that has the natural jumps like that where you can ''Baja'' it for a few miles, and it's my favorite ''rally'' road. I can never seem to get over 65mph though because: throttle, curve, throttle, cliff, etc.

Well Yanni, the offer stands until its just not practical, so feel free to think on it for a few more weeks.

The key to the Rallymoto is corner speeds, cause anyone can hold the throttle open in the straight stuff..... real commitment comes when you hold it open in the corners and when you're not sure whats around the next corner. Black river is the one rally in the series with lots of nght stages, which makes it even more fun. Last year we started at 5pm and raced until midnight in the pouring rain!

Bring Bent Arrow along if he's interested, we can always use a few more volunteers or crew.If he promises not to eat very much, we can feed him also. Bent Arrow is an electrician right?

Worst case scenario, we've got a winter rally in January in Maine that allows studded tires that might interest you?

Studded tires? Damn dude, you're talkin' some shiite that's outta my league! Never tried much in my lifetime besides Enduro and MX, and the only ''rally'' part of me comes through the sport of DS. It's a natural thing I reckon, with all the pavement and gravel that comes with the territory.

Don't get me wrong, that definitely interests me, I just don't think BRS' logistics will work out this year. On another note though, and this is the honest truth, my ol' man would have a ball on stuff like that.

Watching him over the years, he has that natural flattracker style over ''enduro''. 3-4 corners in on anything around here, and I can't keep him in sight. I don't consider myself a rallymoto racer, but I don't believe I'm ''slug slow'' on the fast stuff. He would love to do one like that and I'd love to ride one like that with him.

Hell, saying that, BentAero and him can both toast me on anything but pure trail. Bent can get down and I just can't catch him in the corners. You're right; corner speed wins the race, and sometimes I find flashes of brilliance in them, most times I end up saying ''where's the trail''. That HP2 looks horrid.

If you change your mind, drop me a PM and we can chat. I'll check in with you again in January when the Ice is ready. I'm setting up a few weekends of Ice racing on frozen lake Champlain through our local Cycle club and I think you might enjoy it.

Here is a video of my buddy Jon chasing me around our track last winter.

You haven't lived until you've been elbow to elbow sliding through a corner on ice:smirk: It was zero that day without the wind chill and we hit 80 in the straight section:busted:

Ok, enough..... Hijack off and good luck to you Yanni.

Glad you decided to do another ride . Would a noob on a dr350 be able to handle the ride and say about 30 riders show up do you split up into a few groups or just ride one long group of riders .

Well, The organizer of BRS just announced that Scot Harden has entered Black river representing Husky on a TE510, so its a great opportunity to line up with a Dakar and desert racing legend that's in the Motorcycle hall of fame.

Another Team ghetto member has just ponied up another $50, so the total is now up to $110.00 towards your entry fee and I'm sure some of your fans on Thumper talk would throw in also.

The guy that crashed walked away from the accident, but the HP2 was pretty trashed. I'm the last guy in the video hitting the jump!

Sponser me!!!

J/k How much would it cost to enter this race? Sounds like it could be fun. What is required for the bike? Everything else? Sounds complicated.

In the case of this ride, we'll split it up into groups. We have 3 of us to lead so it shouldn't be a problem. What are you a newb to...offroad or bikes in general?

This ride is nearly all trail and the rocks are pretty big, so a seasoned rider would have much more fun, but none of this stuff is out of any rider's league.

got room for one more? I am actually off that weekend and would love to make one of your rides. Currently riding a 06 KLX250 and plan on bringing extra bottles for fuel. Right now it is a tentative for me. Let me know and I will keep you posted on my attendance. Thanks.

I`ve been riding bikes all my life but never offroad . I got a beatup DR for that purpose thats had plenty of falls already so I`m not afraid to fall a lot . Also I`m going to get some rides in around Hot Springs before hand to get a feel for it if you have any gpx files for that area that would be greatly appreciated . And to answer about my screen name unfortunately I`m not the real JM so trust me you don`t want me to sing :)

Call me anytime and I'll tell you where to roam around Hot Springs. I have never used a GPS so I couldn't tell ya anything about any files, but I know the roads in the back of my head so maybe I could point you in the right direction. That's where the AA300 was held and it was a great ride. :ride:

I was hoping you were the real-deal, as far as the real Mellencamp, so I wouldn't have to bring in my local yahoo's to jam on Saturday night LOL. They've been bugging me since the AA so at least they'll be happy now. :busted:

NYDRZ, sorry for the delay. Entry is $300 and you'll need a working taillight, headlight ,turn signals, first aid kit, space blanket, safety triangle, a NASA membership and a racing license. The Member ship and License are about $90 and are just a simple form. The DRZ is a great bike to start Rallymoto on, but be sure to gear it up a bit. My average speed at Sandblast was 55mph on stage and that was on an 400 EXC in deep sand. I finished 10th overall, but a 30 second time penalty took a solid 7th overall away from me. Fast riding is key, but you need to also follow directions and understand basic Rally timing.

Feel free to PM me with any questions......
Sorry for the Hijack Yanni

Hey Yanni, Who is the band you speak of? I probably know them.

yanni23

The band would be ''Contagious''. I'm a guitar-zan when I'm thrashed, but I'll just let them handle it so it doesn't get outta hand. :)
