My 12 and 10 year old kids have helmets, and jerseys, but they are outgrowing pants and boots at an unbelievable rate. How do you buy your kids' boots? A size big? Pants and gloves aren't a problem, but the BOOTS are KILLING my wallet!!!!! Thanks, and if you have any used stuff, I'll buy it,... hahah

Buy used stuff and sell or trade your stuff. E-Bay is great!!!

WORCS has a swapmeet or at least they did one year.. there was a TON of hardly even used gear for sale.. AMA Distrist 37 has a for sale section and a few times a month there is a listing with kids gear for sale.. I personally do not have any kids but have watched many others do the trade/used gear deal ... I would recommend buying everything BUT the helmet used!!

+1 on the eBay and Craigslist. Buying used boots are a must. You kid will not even break them in before he's outgrown them. As for helmets, I always buy brand new, it's worth the piece of mind.

As others, the helmets were always new, boots used when available, but mostly new and sold used to offset next set. Jersey and paints new, as they were trashed by the time he out grew them, nothing left to sell. And I never found used stuff worth buying. Though, when he was younger, we did get last year’s models,,, at next to nothing prices,, now that he knows what he is wearing,, he wants "new gear" easy..... work, get paid, help buy gear.

Your kids are not riding enough. They should wear it out before they out grow it.

:ride:

My son races mountain bikes. When he was young enough that I had control, we made him wear body armor. Dainese jacket and bibs. There is no way that stuff will last more than one year.

When my son was growing at an alarming rate, we were fortunate enough that there were several kids in our circle who were the next size bigger, so he got lots of hand-me-downs. In our group, it's considered bad karma to sell perfectly good, used gear that your kid has outgrown, so the stuff was given to him, and then he passed it on to the kids who were the next size smaller when he outgrew it. All except for helmets. Helmets were always new, and usually last year's models to save some bank.

We still do usually buy last year's duds (don't call the fashion police), as neither of us really gives a rat's ass about being in style.

Are you finding kids mx boots through craigslist for your city / region?

Or are you scouring for kids MX boots through Craigs all over the country and getting them shipped? Just curious how you're doing this, as in my local craigs, mx boots in my kid sizes are nonexistent.

Luckily I have nephews that are one and four years older than my son. Hand me downs, ebay, craigslist, .com outlets, buy stuff a little big and so on. You have to buy the boots a size big to get any use out of them. Then sell them used for half of what you paid. The first set you pay full price and then it costs 50% most years after if you do it right.

I have seen some good deals here on kids stuff.
