My Xl500R has rubber damped footpegs and they drive me crazy. What other pegs can I use in place of these? I don't like the fact that they feel squishy when I ride and they are worn out and angle down all of the time. The rubber bushings are worn out. Please help.

Find a larger pin to take up the space of the bushing, or somehow find a way to shim up the slack, perhaps find a welding shop that can put down some metal to make the pegs angle upward more. Just some random ideas, good luck.

Do your pegs have the springs mounted under the rubber bushings?
My XL200 had a similar problem so this could work for your bike.
I removed/burned out the rubber bushings, saving the pegs and the inner tube that the pin goes through. After some measuring I found that some standard bronze bushings from the hardware store would fit perfectly in place of the rubber, I think they were 3/4od X 1/2id X 1, with a 1x.125 flange.
To retain the stock rebound springs, I cut an old small piston pin to length to keep the pegs in the proper position.
They still flex down a little, but much better than stock. If you have access to a lathe or know someone that does you could spin some out of aluminum in a few minutes. I think Al Baker or someone used to offer something similar for the big XR's or DR's.

I've hear that later model yzf (think 2000's) work. Might be worth a trip to a bike wrecker.

  I put WR 450 Yammie ones on mine, just drill out the hole slightly and use the WR pins and springs. Easy mod. I'm pretty sure they are all the same from about 2000 on WR/YZ
