52 yo, 180 lbs for XC.
Both have e start:thumbsup:
I am def into 4t but maybe someone could convince me the 2T is better.
1. 300 is lighter, but has a 5 speed.
2. 250 has a 6 speed, but slightly heavier.
I'm into lighter weight and more gears but just am not sure about the 300 premix. HELP?!
Also, can anyone splain to me why no 3 hr 50+ in GNCC (2007 RULES)?
I guess because we're to :foul: old!

Honestly, I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference in weight. I've ridden my 250 xcf-w back to back with my buddies 250 xcw and weight wise they feel the same. I have to pry my bike out of his hands he likes it so much.

My 250xcf actually felt lighter than my 200 when riding. The only times I notice that it weighs a bit more is when I try to lift it onto a bike stand. It's a bit harder to lift that extra 10lbs onto the stand, but as for picking it up in the trails, it's no problem.
my 08' 250 xc-f feels lighter to me than my 06' 250 XC.
placing on a stand they feel about the same.
I haven't had to pick mine off the ground yet :busted:, although I did have to pull it back up onto the trail :busted:... the little thing has more poop than I expected and wheelied out of corner (during first ride) on a trail literally 16 inches wide and set the front tire down over the edge :busted:

You're an expert at OTE's. That was pretty entertaining to see the brand new KTM over the side!

I have to say you would definately be better off on the 250XCF/W. I am sure you will not notice any difference in phisical weight at all. As far as how much the power will wear you out I am sure you will notice a big difference. A ridding buddy of mine in my club has a new 300 and we have swapped bikes several times. He originally wanted to buy a new 250XCF/W but could not find one so was convinced from the dealer to buy a 300XC/W instead and all though he likes his 300 he regrets not waiting to find a 250XCF/W. Comparing the two back to back the 300 has lots of power to wear you out. I just left a 450 to get away from that. It also viberates a lot. As for basic ride and handling they feel very close but the 250 xcf is much easier to ride and is also a total blast. It is hands down the best bike I have ever ridden. I guess I would also have to consider the type of area you are riding. I would probably enjoy the 300 much more if I were riding more open ground such as desert or much more open areas than I regularly ride. I mostly ride thick Pacific Northwest style woods and the 250 four stroke is perfect. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy to have a 300 in my garage too but if I am only going to be able to have one it will be the 250XCF/W. I hope this helps you out a bit.

I don't like the vibration of 300's. I like the smooth 4t power. my two bits

You guys came through at the end, thanks for all the response. I just wanted confirmation about my 250 XCF-W e choice. Now I will still be able to avoid pre mix and I promise I'll get a 4T weedeater ASAP.
Now I just have try to find a used one, Does anyone know the first year they came w/ e start? (4T 250 XCF-W).
I am so stoked they have a 6 speed tranny, now I should have some chance on the long straights w/ the 4 fiddys I hope. (pinned 6 gear). I know in the tight stuff I'll be happy w/ it.
Thanks guys.
