"Why is that girl in a bathing suit?" asks my daughter |

I thought that the women here would totally appreciate this story...
My 6 year old daughter was looking at her dad's sales catalog that he got with his new pro grip goggles. I hear her ask "Dad, what does this lady in a bathing suit have to do with motorcycle stuff?" I want to blirt out the obvious,(men are ...) but she's 6 - AND, I want to see how my husband handles this one. "You see Honey, she's wearing a motorcycle jacket so she wanted to be cold to see if it worked" .
Do men ever wonder if these women know anything about the tools that they show the women "using" (scantly clad I might add) or the gear they wear?
I just thought how out of the mouths off babes, the truth comes...

She seems smart enough to make the question so she's smart enough to understand the answer!!!

I did explain it to her, but I thought that it was funny that a 6 year old could see right through the stupidity of it.

Why do you think the women pose in bikinis for advertisers? This is why, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! Case closed. But I do agree it does send a wrong message in today's society.

There are a lot of things I could do for money that I don't because of my moral belifs.
Kangaroo, that wasn't a shot at you. I am just surprised at the way so many girls act. They will do anything just to get attention and it is very sad to me.
I'm impressed that your six year old saw through it!

well I don't know what catalog you guys and gals order from. Everytime I order a new set of gear they ship both the gear and the girl to me. It is totally realistic, and also makes me look and ride much faster.

Ok wait a minute, are you trying to suggest that the woman in the Progrip catalog don’t actually ride in a g-string, Next you’ll be telling me that the Snap-on tool girls are not really mechanics! I mean what’s next, where does this madness end…. is Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny simply marketing tools designed to encourage us to buy more, spend more and eat more? Are TV show little more than lifestyle awareness campaigns designed to sell clothing, water, and vacation packages to LA, the OC and other perfect places;)

We know these women don't know anything about the stuff they "using", and we don't care! Why would we???

You won't have to break the news, some smartass in school will do it for you. Then you'll just have to answer this question: "mommy, Billy said there's no such thing as Santa! Is there a Santa mommy?". Then you'll just have to tell her/him the truth. It's not as complicated as I thought it would be.

Hmm, so telling her, "Dont you worry honey, Billy is adopted and Lies to make up for the lack of love in his abusive home, because of this Santa is afraid to visit.. thats why he does not believe in Santa", was not the right approach to take?

Ok I'm coming back in here. I really wish you thumperettes would post your male bashing posts in the off topic forum so we can freely repond there, but perhaps you want to just girl talk about guys without the males interfering or offering any point counter point and that's fine. However the tone of this thread and how some males here have accepted the posts original premise is more then I can handle.
First question: you say the woman "lady" has a bathing suit on. what age was this lady? I assume shes a typical 16-20 age model?
Next you set us up by saying it was "Dad's" progrip goggle catalog when Thumperettes buy goggles too.
What kind of motorcycle jacket was she wearing? a man's jacket or a female rider's jacket? I have seen that little flyer that goes in with pro grip goggles and I vaguely remember a chick selling some chick stuff. Notice also how you broadened the attack mentioning scantliy clothed women next to TOOLs, when it started as a jacket - a woman's jacket....I presume...... why not title the post honestly.......you dont like snap on tool calendars? but you wrapped your male bashing under the soft lense of child protection........yup a typical female hide behind the babies tactic........ its all about the babies isn't and "save the children"....sounds like Hillary is your champion.
so now I'll turn this question back to you: why is it that the girls, women, female adds selling female stuff to women are beautiful young sexy hot females wearing nothing but the barest of outfits?
answer? because......a lot of reasons all having to do with not men but women. Women compete with each other, they compete with each other and they LOOK too, that's why all the women's mags have sexy women on the cover. if she looks good, then I can look good in that jacket. Come on tell us ole great wise one why does cosmopolitan have scantily dressed women with sexy looks on the cover?????? explain that to your little girl.
Tell your daughter the truth, the reason young High school girls wear next to nothing to campus is NOT becasue those men are pigs, its becasue the chicks are competitive with each other........explain how when my dad's second wife used to get her hair done, the first thing she does is drag him shopping..so she can show off her new do to the ladies.....she doesnt get her hair done for my dad.......
next regarding the male stare - tell your daughter the truth..that the male stare is part of life and sex and men are attracted to women who are flowering and ready for SEX and ready to have more children...... sex doesn't equal stupid, sex equals sex. and us stupid males have been creating the world for sometime..tell your daughter how women wrote the US constitution, or placed a man on the moon or invented her TV. yes stupid males did that because we oppress women..........yes undermine your young daughter's view of her father some more in her eyes
and next time you tell a child if you did that men are pigs, remind her that women are HOGS, they hog the conversation, they hog the children, they hog the furniture choices, they hog the family relations, they hog the attention from males by wearing next to nothing, they hog the check book, they hog their own view of the truth.

Sex sells, so they say. My opinion is that most models are hired to do shoots be it bikes, cars, what have you. They don't really care what the product is, they model, that is their job, they want to be seen and be glamorous, the better they are the more they can demand in payment. Like pro ball players, their window of income opportunity is limited, their skills won't last forever (womens looks won't last either). Anyway there is a small percentage who model that actually do ride and wrench. These are the women guys fantasies about..if only this were my girl, my life would be sweet!
Hey when a mx race is won, there is usually the spraying of the bubbly and kisses from bikini clad women on the podium. Do these bikini clad women kiss a female winner? Is there some buff stud wearing a speedo waiting in a tent somewhere just in case a women rider wins, so she can get the same kiss and treatment as male counterparts?

I don't think "intellect" has anything to do with it. Women are "cerebral", men are "visual". In other words, for a woman to get the most out of the advertising there needs to be a paragraph long description... for men you just post a couple of pics and your product sells!!

Oh? Can’t let us have our girl talk after all? Why would we want our posts to turn into some mob scene in the OT forum where a bunch of indignant, ego-stung males like you can make asinine statements? The purpose of the Thumpette forum is, I thought, so that the women can talk to each other, not defend themselves from your chauvinistic crap. So you better learn to handle it because we have every right to say what we want here in our own dedicated forum, just like you have the right to not respond to a post that in no way concerns you.
Tell your daughter the truth, the reason young High school girls wear next to nothing to campus is NOT becasue those men are pigs, its becasue the chicks are competitive with each other........
Chicks are competitive with each other, true. but we don't wear skimpy clothes for each other, i promise you that.
next regarding the male stare - tell your daughter the truth..that the male stare is part of life and sex and men are attracted to women who are flowering and ready for SEX and ready to have more children...... sex doesn't equal stupid, sex equals sex.
So this young girl should become accustomed to men staring at her as an acceptable part of life? It's rude and demeaning. A smile, a greeting, a compliment--these are ok. Staring is not. Sex is not some base animal instinct that drives our society anymore. We have evolved past that. Women are not here for breeding purposes.
and us stupid males have been creating the world for sometime..tell your daughter how women wrote the US constitution, or placed a man on the moon or invented her TV. yes stupid males did that because we oppress women.
Study some history. The oppression of women is a fact you can research all on your very own. It’s a sad thing … if women had been encouraged instead of burned at the stake for having ideas of their own throughout history, think of the the inventions that were never created, books never written.
yes undermine your young daughter's view of her father some more in her eyes.
You’re out in the deep end on this one … where did undermining her view of her father come into it? Raising a daughter to think for herself and have some self-respect does not equal undermining her view of her father, last I checked.
and next time you tell a child if you did that men are pigs, remind her that women are HOGS, they hog the conversation, they hog the children, they hog the furniture choices, they hog the family relations, they hog the attention from males by wearing next to nothing, they hog the check book, they hog their own view of the truth.
Hey maybe you can try to toss out some more inane, offensive stereotypes? Please? I bet you could if you really tried. That is the worst piece of drivel I have ever seen posted here.
I find your entire post offensive and ignorant. It’s a sad fact that our society measures a womans’ worth by her appearance. Unfortunately it’s inherent in the motorcycling industry; all we can do at this point is educate the kids and hope the next generation does a better job.
I know you don’t have anything better to do than cruise the womens’ forum when OT gets boring, but please go away and let the THUMPETTES have their own conversation without your destructive input.
