"Why is that girl in a bathing suit?" asks my daughter |

Ok I'm coming back in here. I really wish you thumperettes would post your male bashing posts in the off topic forum so we can freely repond there, but perhaps you want to just girl talk about guys without the males interfering or offering any point counter point and that's fine. However the tone of this thread and how some males here have accepted the posts original premise is more then I can handle.
First question: you say the woman "lady" has a bathing suit on. what age was this lady? I assume shes a typical 16-20 age model?
Next you set us up by saying it was "Dad's" progrip goggle catalog when Thumperettes buy goggles too.
What kind of motorcycle jacket was she wearing? a man's jacket or a female rider's jacket? I have seen that little flyer that goes in with pro grip goggles and I vaguely remember a chick selling some chick stuff. Notice also how you broadened the attack mentioning scantliy clothed women next to TOOLs, when it started as a jacket - a woman's jacket....I presume...... why not title the post honestly.......you dont like snap on tool calendars? but you wrapped your male bashing under the soft lense of child protection........yup a typical female hide behind the babies tactic........ its all about the babies isn't and "save the children"....sounds like Hillary is your champion.
so now I'll turn this question back to you: why is it that the girls, women, female adds selling female stuff to women are beautiful young sexy hot females wearing nothing but the barest of outfits?
answer? because......a lot of reasons all having to do with not men but women. Women compete with each other, they compete with each other and they LOOK too, that's why all the women's mags have sexy women on the cover. if she looks good, then I can look good in that jacket. Come on tell us ole great wise one why does cosmopolitan have scantily dressed women with sexy looks on the cover?????? explain that to your little girl.
Tell your daughter the truth, the reason young High school girls wear next to nothing to campus is NOT becasue those men are pigs, its becasue the chicks are competitive with each other........explain how when my dad's second wife used to get her hair done, the first thing she does is drag him shopping..so she can show off her new do to the ladies.....she doesnt get her hair done for my dad.......
next regarding the male stare - tell your daughter the truth..that the male stare is part of life and sex and men are attracted to women who are flowering and ready for SEX and ready to have more children...... sex doesn't equal stupid, sex equals sex. and us stupid males have been creating the world for sometime..tell your daughter how women wrote the US constitution, or placed a man on the moon or invented her TV. yes stupid males did that because we oppress women..........yes undermine your young daughter's view of her father some more in her eyes
and next time you tell a child if you did that men are pigs, remind her that women are HOGS, they hog the conversation, they hog the children, they hog the furniture choices, they hog the family relations, they hog the attention from males by wearing next to nothing, they hog the check book, they hog their own view of the truth.
I back you on this 100% Morning Rider! Must be a little jealousy from some of the thumpette's here, because some TT'ers like to look at other girls in catalogs, or the catalogs that we just happen to buy from advertise girls in them. Sure we could take this to O.T. Section, but whay not deal with it here? :smashpc:

The oppression of women is a fact you can research all on your very own. It’s a sad thing … if women had been encouraged instead of burned at the stake for having ideas of their own throughout history, think of the the inventions that were never created, books never written.
That was then, and this is now. Don't dwell on the past or throw the "gender card" just because a select few are giving the rest a bad rap! Be part of the solution, and not part of the problem! :naughty: Oh and by the way, my descendents were indentured servants, but you don't hear me complaining about that do you? Acknowledge and move on!
We have evolved past that.
This reads to me from above quote, like you think you are still living "back then".
Chicks are competitive with each other, true. but we don't wear skimpy clothes for each other, i promise you that.
Then tell us why all woman dress this way? :excuseme: I would like to know.
If this gets deleted, then you'll never have to hear from me in here again. I promise you that.

You can sure tell who have a lack of respect towards women in this thread. Unfortunately, the points that Firecracker made are probably falling upon deaf ears.. Ignorance is bliss.

No one is complaining, only FACTS are being acknowledged!!!
If you think the writer is thinking like she is living back then, YOU BETTER READ IT AGAIN!!
We dont ALL dress like that! Sure, we like to look good but do it for ourselves.
What do your descendants have to do with this?? BTW, I did not know you had children?

Well, I suppose suffrage wasn't enough. What else would you call that but a whole lot of complaining? And maybe if more would listen instead of push it to the back burner, things would change!
Nobody cares about what happened to your descendents however many generations ago. We’re talking about what is still happening to women, to this day, which is made very clear by some of the archaic attitudes I see in posts like these!
We have evolved past that.
This reads to me from above quote, like you think you are still living "back then".
It does? You know, on the Internet, people can read it when you take things out of context. That makes absolutely no sense. In that particular comment, I was referring to how sex is no longer a primitive drive. Read it again.
Then tell us why all woman dress this way? I would like to know.
Well, first, "all" women do not dress in bikinis and motorcycle jackets, or whatever. Do you REALLY have to ask why they do it? Unfortunately, most do it to get the attention of men who will then call them names for dressing skimpily. This should be completely obvious.
If this gets deleted, then you'll never have to hear from me in here again. I promise you that.
Don’t make promises you know you won’t keep.

FC's response is fine. Still my main point/question remains un-answered:
was the bikini female model showing a female or male jacket?
if she was wearing/selling a female jacket, then this post thread is a fraud.
bye
It's hard to believe that men still hang out in here... as much as they complain, it is an addition of some sort to hang out in the women's room. We should make them wear bras and panties to post here if they want to be one of the girls.
Hard also to believe that MorningRider can make a point about women's contribututions to society being less then men's. Yes, men have contributed a bunch. Certainly almost all wars are started by men. He is basically saying that the value of wives and mothers, and the many business leaders and inventors that are women are far less valuable than what the male counterparts can produce.
Could be that he actually didn't mean it that way, and is just a poor writer.

The jacket had nothing to do with the add, it was a progrip catalog. The jacket was used as a diversion from telling her six year old that "sex sells". I'm sure pro grip was not selling the jacket. It was "set up" as Daddy's catalog because it was his.
My initial reaction to this was, it is sad that some women do this for attention and it is sad that some men buy into it. My post in response to 2bbs was taken out of context. I wasn't the one saying anything about the intellect of anyone, I said this type of advertising is typical in all generes not just dirtbiking.
Corey, I'm just surprised at your response. You've seen pictures of me, you see I'm not using that tactic. I could dress like that if I wanted to- so what is there to be jealous of, why wouldn't I just do it? I think it is trashy on the part of all parties involved. The perception that women are not at all oppressed today is ignorant.
I don't buy women's magazines, I only get Racer X. I think you are comparing apples to oranges with the advertising issue. Women may want to be attractive but most don't want to be objectified. As I said earlier I think some women don't have respect for themselves and will do anything for the attention. The problem is those of us who aren't like that are accused of being that way.

MorningRider, nothing personal, but I ask you (and the others who are 'frequent flyers' in the thumpette forum) to re-read THIS:
Welcome to the new Thumpette Forum!
This is the place for the women of our sport to hang out, talk, and meet other women that ride.
Please enjoy your stay in the new forum, but before you do here are a couple things to remember:
1) This is NOT a pick up joint.
2) Treat the women of our sport with respect. They've earned and deserve it.
If everyone keeps these 2 simple rules in mind, this should be a great forum for everyone.
And now re-read selected excerpts of your post:
Ok I'm coming back in here. I really wish you thumperettes would post your male bashing posts in the off topic forum so we can freely repond there, but perhaps you want to just girl talk about guys without the males interfering or offering any point counter point and that's fine. The first paragraph leads me to believe you must have forgotten the original intent of the thumpette forum, as determined by the admins, and the last paragraph makes me think you (and a few others) may have forgotten rule #2. There are a few more rules in this forum than in the OT forum, the PURPOSE is different, which is VERY LIKELY why this original thread was posted BY A WOMAN IN THE THUMPETTE FORUM. In fact, she said I thought that the women here would totally appreciate this story...
And do I even have to comment on your last paragraph, in regards to rule #2? :thumbsdn:
Contributions to the thumpette forum by the guys are welcomed and appreciated by all of the thumpettes, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ABOVE RULES. Play by those rules, and all will be well. If you can't play by the rules, stay out of the thumpette forum. That simple.
And no, Corey, I'm not going to delete any posts, because I think the topic is one that everyone can learn something from if talked about openly... but I'm asking all to keep the above rules in mind for future posts, or I WILL start deleting posts, or even hand out forum 'vacations' if necessary... :thumbsdn:
When looking through the majority of the male posts here I think the one thing that is missing is respect for women and being helpful to that premise. I'm not saying that our TT men don't respect women, but the kinds of things that get posted in Thumpette for 'our comments' lead me to to lean toward that conclusion.

It may be hard to believe, but for all men have accomplished, they started their path to accomplishment by being born and raised by their mothers. Those that don't understand that accomplishment (by the mother) most likely haven't raised children.
Fact, males have been fighting with each other since the beginning of time to possess the right to choose his mate. Women have been primping to be chosen my the alpha male for just as long. This isn't good or bad or subject to critical review. It's just an old habit that some still subscribe to more than others. Hopefully we understand our history and can choose to buy into as much or as little as we desire. (This can actually be fun for all involved!)
What I don't understand is the complete lack of acceptance of the diversity of individuals in general. Some of us are born smart, some strong, some rich and some beautiful.....and we all take advantage of the strengths we possess. It it human nature to criticize those that disagree with us, but take a good look at why someone might be choosing a different path than YOU, before entering attack mode. There may be a very good reason for it for that is being overlooked.
Enjoy the diversity and hope that our children will grow up with respect, empathy and an understanding why others make valid choices for reasons that we may not see....
A little less anger and a little more understanding usually wins...

Possibly. Although its hard to expect someone to respect a person they don't know, IMO, gender notwithstanding. But the point is, it IS important, on this forum, to TREAT the women here respectfully. (BW says so!! ;) ) A more cordial atmosphere makes more women riders feel comfortable participating... heck, we've got at least 40 active women members now, before the thumpette forum was started we had maybe 12! :applause: :applause: And, being women in a male dominated sport, its nice to have a little corner to call our own!

but you wrapped your male bashing under the soft lense of child protection........yup a typical female hide behind the babies tactic........ its all about the babies isn't and "save the children"....sounds like Hillary is your champion.
Ok, this is the third time I have heard you say this to someone. Caring for our children and wanting to *shelter* some stuff from them is NOT using them as a tool (as you told me I did with my kids) or us *hiding* behind our babies!!! You have some serious issues to work out, obviously! My 4 y/o has also asked me why a girl was wearing a bathing suit. All I said was "I don't know, maybe they were taking the pictures by the beach". Parents just want to bring their kids up to be respecting and respectful adults. To tell a 6 y/o, "hey sex sells, you better learn that now" is stupid! :smashpc: :smashpc:
I'm not botherd by a model wearing next to nothing, selling something she knows nothing about. They are just doing their their job. ( I modeled lingerie for years) But when you have a little kid asking you questions about the things they see in catalogs, it's a tuff spot to be in sometimes. Every person has their own opinions on how to handle it.
I think Kangaroo posted this up because it was kind of a cute and funny story. I believe she said us *girls* would appreciate it. You know, since this is the thumpette forum and all.
Mornigrider, I think I have told you this before. Think before you type. You really come off like a jerk! From reading everything that you have wrote, I can totally understand why you are 50 something and still single!

i am very new to this forum, and this thread just knocked me for a loop!
i do like the thumperrette forum because its for chicks with thumpers. i also like mxgirls.com because its for chicks (kinda young ones over there, still like it, its fun). and i am a chick, so there you go.
i posted a thread about riding with guys i don't know. i got a lot of very thoughtful responses - but was surprised that the majority of the responses were from guys. no matter. the responses were unbelievably helpful. AND RESPECTFUL. i'm really grateful for the responses i got, the advice i got, and the new riding buddies i got - both male and female!
now, this thread started out as a funny story about the explanations one sometimes has to give to small children when they make their innocent, yet cutting, observations. like the - what does the easter bunny do all year round, is that really santa at the mall, and why is that lady wearing a bikini.
even the guys saw that it was funny!! cuz it is...its part of our human existence to be fascinated by sex. and it is funny that we go to some extremes - like a chick in a bikini with alpinestar boots on, sitting on a bike. now, i wear alpinestars, but it isn't because i saw that ad, it isn't because i want to look like her, its unrelated. the guys i know that wear alpinestars don't wear them because of the ad either - we all have specific reasons why - fit, durability, what have you. all that ad did was make a few thousand people stop and LOOK at that page a little longer than if it had shown travis pastrana standing next to his bike wearing ALL his riding gear. i mean, nice and all, i'm a fan of his, but i looked at the chick longer than i would look at travis. and i'm a chick. i couldn't help it! if i looked at it, then i know every guy i know looked at it even longer....alpinestar got what it wanted. its really a very simple advertising premise. eye-time. do we all know that sex sells? yes. do we all know that there are double standards in this world? yes. do were know that there are injustices between peoples - men, women, colors, countries, etc.? yes. but explaining that to a 6 year old? nope.
it was just a funny story. and i 6 year old BOY could've asked the same question. still would've been a funny story.
oh, and whomever said their "descendants" were indentured servants...yikes. you need to report that to CPS!! :) cuz you're kids shouldn't be in bonded servitude in this day and age. maybe you meant ANCESTORS???
.....edited version to adhere to the Thumperrette forum rules - no double standards here!!

I just wanted to tell a funny story to some other women (being the Thumpette forum) who have kids and have to answer the never ending questions that come from them. AND then we have to stop and think of the appropriate response for that child (age and comprehesive ablity).
I don't know about the other moms in the forum, but I love my husband and so do my kids. No male bashing going on here. (If I got him mad - who would fix, clean and do the maintenance on my bike? hee hee)

Sex sells, so they say. My opinion is that most models are hired to do shoots be it bikes, cars, what have you. They don't really care what the product is, they model, that is their job,
So why is it that we don't see more sexxy men in G-strings selling girly products to women?????????? if sex sells, I want it!!!!!!

Yeah, seems like a double standard. I also said, like why don't they have some buff dude in a speedo for photo ops and kisses on the podium when a woman wins a race?
I really didn't answer the question of the 6yr old. I more or less ststed facts. My daughter is now 24 yrs old. When she was 6 we lived 4 blocks from the ocean and she was at the beach everyday. She grew up seeing bikini bunnies and never asked a question like that.
I suppose I would have asked her what she thought about it and why she thinks the girl was wearing the bathing suit...and then wait for her imagination to kick in. Kids say the darndest things.

its part of our human existence to be fascinated by sex. and it is funny that we go to some extremes - Where is the love!?? Speaking of going to some "extremes"........it seems like there is some 'Big Bob'/Morningrider bashing(DJ already did address the situation I do believe) taking place here>>>>>
that morningrider chose to use this story and this forum to unleash the venom he feels toward women (and people in general, i suspect) was uncalled for, suprising, and most of it didn't even make non-sense.
Maybe he was having an "off" time of the month?? Hormonal OR chemical imbalance can occur in both genders........I used to work with a guy that could just be the nicest person and in a drop of a hat just turn on you like a rabid dog.........OOPS........maybe that situation was 'chemical imbalance'...........internal balance 'isues' can certainly mess with one's psychic!!?? Anyways.......if you go down to someone else's level of slinging insults and such......guess what!?? Your at their level then........it's not nice......no matter what gender one is!!
so, tell us, who hurt you, morningrider? and i'm very curious to know if you were a test-tube baby, as you claimed that men have been creating the world throughout history. who created you? did you spring from zeus's thigh, like a greek god? i think i read somewhere that you aren't married? i can't believe it!! with your provincial opinions, and your unmitigated ignorance, not to mention poor reading and comprehension skills, i'm shocked that you haven't been able to charm a woman to your side. Play nice, even if others don't...........it's much more attractive than vengeful retorts; IMHO!! Remember there are both male AND female here that aren't married  :excuseme: :busted: ..........
or maybe, you just wanted to stir the pot? get the girls all riled up? because that post of yours was so garbled and unrelated to what anybody had said for the most part - it looked just like pure bile spit up on the screen. if that was your intention, you succeeded. Don't let Morningrider/Big Bob "own" you with his "stirring of the pot"!! :busted: :naughty:
i don't know that many people in my life that go out of their way to make other people dislike them, even if they'll never meet. i don't understand that.

NO PLEASE DON'T TELL, I've heard enough from him! If Morning Rider is going to come off with such a disrespectful attitude he will encounter nothing but disrespect in return so it is no surprise to me that he hates women.
I've had boyfriends who were wonderful respectable men and those who were lying, manipulative, cheating jerks. I know better than to cram "men" into a category as if they are all the same.
Life would be great if we could do as RH says and respect everyone for their differences, however, I think that is a bit unrealistic. Some things other people do bother me because I feel like they have a direct influence on how I am treated by others as a woman. Just because I don't like some things that others do though, doesn't always mean I don't like the person...
BTW, it was a funny story.

Wow! I miss all the fun!
My DAD was the one who over time clued me in to the male's obsessiveness of sex. It certainly didn't destroy my relationship with him. It did however teach me not to get myself in certain situations that I would later regret and/or not lower myself to become simply a sperm receptacle. Because face it, there are certainly a quite a few men who do think primarily with their pee pee. I'm not bashing the entire male population, just the 16 to 26 year olds(approximately give or take a few decades ;) depending on the individual of course). :D
Anyway, I think MorningRider really overreacted. :awww: Is the proper response to bash away at him or just let him cool off and come to his senses? :excuseme: Who knows?
The rest of the responses really covered the issues so I don't really feel the need to reiterate anything here. However, NOT EVERYONE DRESSES LIKE A HO!!!!!!!!!! Maybe ya'll think that is the case because they are the ones that attract your attention and ya'll completely DON'T see the non-ho's???
I found the story hilarious! Kids are a crack up! Thanks for sharing the story. I'm sure there was a very uncomfortable PAUSE as you all thought about your answer!!!

Um, kay!!!!!!!
Well.....unfortunately.....sex *does* sell. It not only sells to men....but it sells to many, many women as well. Look at beauty magazines.....would we have so many if women didn't buy them?
To me....some sexy babe in riding gear doesn't sell it to me....I don't look like that babe.....nor will I if I buy that gear, outfit, etc.
"you dont like snap on tool calendars? "
This is very funny to me. Now....the Snap On guy....as well as the Cornwell guy come up here on Thursdays. I know this.....and I regularly pull over when their vans are stopped at the various shops in town. I buy several hundred dollars in tools from them over a year's time. (Snap-On tools are expensive....not hard to drop some serious cash on them) Just "popping" in, ya know. Sometimes, I just pop in to say "Hi!"....update them on my recent race exploits and check out what new, nifty things they might have on hand.
A few months back....it was "calander time". They were giving out free calanders. After making some comments.....I mean....those chicks holding tools they have no clue about *are* really nice looking. (I want a nekked guy version!) Though I think they could all use a good meal....a sandwich at the very least....I can appreciate the fact that these young ladies have very nice bodies. If I were a guy.....heck yeah....I'd want to look at them all day, too. If nothing else then to have some fantasy that in some other galaxy.....maybe have a "chance" with her. Yeah.....fat, greasy guy.....and some hot chick is gonna go for him? Yeah, right.....but a man's gotta dream, right? Same reason many of us own bikes. We enjoy them....but come on....somewhere deep down inside.....we all want to be *able* to do triples with ease, knack-knacks and all that. Nope, most of us can't.....but we can *dream* about it, none the less.
Same goes for that hot chick holding a power tool in the Snap On calander.....the guys want to at least dream....however remotely....that they can have *that* chick....even for a fleeting moment.
Obviously it sells tools or they wouldn't spend the time and energy to do it.
As far as Morning Rider....yup....I think someone hurt him deeply somewhere along the way. It's ok.....many of us have been hurt along the way, too.
Ok....kiss, kiss.....can we all make nice, now? Until they make the g-string clad guy calander from Snap On.....I will deal with the fact that there will be half nekked women on their calanders. It sells.....me in a bikini does not.
I also know that hot chick would not put up with farting in bed.....that pot belly and many other things mine and everyone else's old men do......neither would the Chippendale's model deal with my well earned stretch marks, my "character lines", and my ever increasing gray hairs....
So.....it's a two way street.
Can we all just have a group hug and relax now? It was simply meant as a funny story....not a political battle grounds.
peace,
janette

Life would be great if we could do as RH says and respect everyone for their differences, however, I think that is a bit unrealistic.
Its a good GOAL to keep in mind, however... never hurts to aim high when it comes down to how you behave in the world, and how you treat other people!
