I love it. I had dark green vegetables and chicken breast. I used to take in around 400g carbs a day. Today, I took in 30g. The food is great and I will stick to this until I reach my goal of 195. Right now, I am 248. I will keep you posted on the results if anyone wants to know how it turns out.

Good job-way to go! When I first started on the really low carb portion, I had some headaches... I don't know if it was really because of the low carbs or what, but it went away pretty quickly. You'll be very pleased with the results if you are strict with it. After the induction phase, you can start throwing in some "smart" carbs and the weight will keep coming off. If you exercise it will just speed everything up as well. The only real problem I had with it was the $$$ but it's more than worth it when you see the results.
Good job!

I worked out today and I am very very strict on my diets. Today, I took in 10g carbs (from the green veggies). So far, so good. No headaches or dizzyness and I love the chicken.

Stick with it, you may feel some hunger pangs between meals while your stomach shrinks a bit, just get through it with some fluid intake to kil the hunger pangs, or some good snacks such as an ounce of plain salted peanuts, or grab a few hunks of cauliflower.
I never experienced headaches or dizziness, and remember, eating 6x a day in smaller amounts is better than eating 2x a day in large amounts. You won't feel hungry that way, your blood sugar stays stable, and you won't tend to binge eat...

A case of Aquafina water and diet Dr. Pepper help me out between meals. I only have time to eat twice a day during the week, but I will start making my meals a day before and refrigerate them so that I can eat smaller portions 6x a day.

I typically have a breakfast of either eggs, bacon, ham, turkey, turkey weiners, some cheese, and maybe a whole wheat tortilla. You NEED to eat breakfast to jump start your metabolism. DO NOT skip breakfast...this is a bad thing to do, alot of people do not realize this and think skipping breakfast will help, but it hurts because your body tries to stay in conservation mode and store fats, afte all, it has not seen any food intake in 8-12 hours depending on when you ate dinner.
Then at work I have some peanuts if I feel hungry, then lunch. I drink a large Diet Coke almost everyday, but I try to avoid them starting aout 2 days before race weekends just to flush the caffeine from my body. Then I get home from work, do my running, then I eat a sensible dinner, but I eat till I am full, and I LIKE eating meat/fish in larger amounts at dinner. I try not to eat after about 8:00....
On weekends I splurge a bit, have some cookies if I want, and I will eat breakfast of good old cereal and milk. LOTS of sugar in that, but once a week will NOT ruin your plan. Once you are past the induction phase you NEED to treat yourself once a week or so to something you really enjoy.
Works for me... Like you noted, drink LOTS of water...
Let us know how you do...

Have not read the Atkins literature..
I hear the dairy is ok (cheese etc...)
Is milk OK on the diet?
RM250BS

Milk has a lot of carbs, so small amounts are ok, but you cann't drink too much. Skim milk has 12g in an 8oz glass
I have been on the atkins thing for 3 days now, its getting easier and harder at the same time, I dont get as hungry much anymore, but I am getting tired of what ihave been eating, the limited veggies is little hard to get used too, but I bet I lost a couple pounds allready, just need a little more variety in the meal planning I guess.

Spud, you got that right...
It always seems like the results keep you motivated and once the energy levels even out, things start to look up. Then you try to plan a meal and realize it's about the same as your last one... and the one before that...and the one before that. That's my big complaint. If you check around on the net there are some "low carb" recipes that look "interesting" if nothing else. If I run across any that might be decent I'll paste a link...

spud- it takes some planning for sure...
I ate green beans, broccoli with cheese sauce, cauliflower, salads with and without meat and cheese (NO croutons!)...spinach with butter as well. There are great truly low carb milks by a company called Hood. The chocolate milk is GREAT, and only 2g net per cup.
I found that I spent an additional 15% or so on foods, you truly have to plan your buying for the week so the variety is there...
TIP: buy some of the low carb whole wheat tortillas (2-3g net carbs each) and make PIZZA with them, thin crust style...slap some tomato paste, cheese, meats, and spices...very good!!!

Here's one on MSN today.
Probably not suitable for the "induction phase" but might offer a little variety...

I said it earlier
If you get Golden flax seed whole grains. you can grind it up into a powder a snort it
Mix it with Soy milk and drink it or spread it on peanut butter. 1/2 hour later you aint hungry at all for a few hours.
Flax will assist in pooping and wil also add protien to your atkins diet. Check out the book
Plus it aids in colesteral, arthritis, pooping, digestion and did I mention pooping :goofy:
thanks for the help,
vegies: I have been picking on letuce, brocli, baby spinach, olives, red pepper, cabage, celery, (coleslaw mix without dressing( noticed some small gratted carrots in there.. oops. I use regular ranch dressing, seems low carb and no sugar :excuseme:
cheddar and moza cheese
canned tuna and salmon, eggs, and home made deer/pork sausage :goofy:
This is only my 4 th day of induction, and I havent weighed my self but I fell slimmer, not a bunch of energy yet
5 days now :worthy:
I broke down today and had half an apple pear, I was getting dizzy, got the squirts. still drinking a 10oz regular coffee everday.
The dizyness may be a side effect of the flu I may have but not sure. not to bad, anyone else get dizy????????
still no energy, there is NO way I could have a decent work out on this induction phase, yes I will still get some flax seed, Had a hard time finding a good multivitamin without Iron, still been taking my regular vitamin (revitalize works awsome)with Iron
This is an update for any one who cares, try not to steal Rm250BS thread, :excuseme:

Have any of you tried Sugar Busters? Not as strict as Adkins diet but works really well. No refined sugar and certain fruits and vegetables.

Day 7,
I also got the squirts and was feeling dizzy, so I ate a small bowl of cereal. I can not tell if I lost weight (haven't checked the scale), but I am doing great on this and I plan to stay on it until I reach my goal of 200.
Spud, as far as stealing my thread, you are not and I am glad that you post your thoughts and results because now I have someone to compare to. Keep posting, I want to see how it turns out

go easy on the sugar free candy as it acts as a laxitive. Also giving up caffine is something you need to do (unless you're gonna go postal) as it releases insulin an that produces sugar in your system which prevents ketosis(fat burning process).Make sure you're drinking alot of water also.

That's right, the coffee is something you may need to give up...
Stick with it, be honest, and you WILL lose the weight, it is not IF, but WHEN, and HOW MUCH....

Way to go guys...keep up the good work!!!
I lost 20 lbs about 4 months ago and have been keeping it off. Now I am going to try and lose about 4 more just to see if I can. Got a program on my PDA that you can log what you eat, amount and type of exercise and stuff. Keeps track of calorie intake and burned and amount of carbs, protein, fats etc.
The program is cool, but what really helped is it made me read what I was eating. Some of the packaging is misleading. They list all that stuff, but then say "per serving". Then 2 or 3 servings per package!!! Yikes.
Been cutting out all the junk food snacks I eat at work. I think I just eat that stuff 'cause I'm bored and walk out to the snack machines.
I drink lots of coffee, but the last few days I have brought a thermos full of green tea and cut down the coffee intake.
Keep us informed how you guys are doing.
