Topic has been here before, but I can't find any good pictures of interior setups on 6x12 or similiar size trailers.. Looking for ideas, as I'm about to purchase one. Any photos out there? I'm thinking of adding a large water container, cabinets, air tank, spare tire for trailer, ?? what else? I will not go bigger than 6x12 at this time.

My 6x12 is set up thusly:

Spare tire is outside resting on toungue area with a chain and lock and rubber bungee cord. I have not decided on how to mount it yet--but it rides fine.

Inside I put down a large sheet of linoleum to allow for easy clean up. I should have used the black and white stick on squares for that racey look but didn't think of it at the time. My floor is mostly white and I painted the walls and ceiling white--easier to see inside the trailer.

In the front left corner is a 50 gallon plastic barrel for water. To the right of the barrel is a metal 3 shelf enclosed cabinet I got at used office furniture store for $30.00. It is about 4'H x 3'W by 1.5' D. In this keep food, the little gas grill, spare gas bottles, dishes, new parts, some dry clothes, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. To the right of this cabinet is a space we store 3 folding chairs.

Our gear bags ride nicely on top of the barrel and cabinet.

On the curb side door are metal basket shelves for oils and spray lubes.

Aft of the water barrel is another metal cabinet with shelves. It is bolted to the wall--actually, I bolted a 2x4 to the wall and bolted the cabinet to the board. The board spaces the cabinet away from the wall about 3" and we slide a folding table behind the cabinet. The cabinet is enclosed, with a safety latch on the double doors and has about 6 shelves. It is 2'W, 5.5'H and 1'D. $10.00 at yard sale. Holds helmets, tool fanny packs, water bottles, parts, etc.

2 Pingel removeable chocks on the floor with D ring anchors every 2' along the walls and one row down the middle. Rain coats and umbrellas here.

Coat hooks along both walls up high and a "ditty" basket up high near leaf rear. The EZ-up stores on the floor aft of the vertical cabinet along the left wall. Pressure washer stores under the basket.

The bikes ride over the axle. I tried the water a bit farther back but the trailer didn't pull well. It works better with the water forward. Gas cans sit forward against the front cabinet and a large cooler sort of holds them in place. I have piece of carpet up front between front of bikes and cabinets to change on when it rains. Also have a few old car matts to stand on out side when changing. The trailer pulls a lot better with no water. I am looking for a flat water tank between 50 and 80 gallons to put on the floor up front, then set the cabinet and cooler on top of it--but not in rush.

My trailer has double doors. Ramps take up too much room in back of the trailer. EZ-up butts up to the rear of trailer and you have more room under it without the ramp. I use a Moose aluminum ramp that stores on the floor, right side, aft of tool box, which I keep forward of the axle, aft of curb door.

I am working on a obtaining a generator (looking for Honda EU2000i) and putting in some florescent lights, as well as a deep cycle batter and 12v lights.

Everything in the trailer comes out in about 15 minutes for hauling other stuff. I would love to get a roll up awning on the curb side, and figure out a way to disable outside latches and put inside latches on the doors and add fold up cots to the walls to sleep on.

Sleeping bags, luggage and tent go in tow vehicle.

I wish I had gotten a 7x14 or 7x16 V front--but then I would have had to go with a tandem axle. For us, the 6x12 works out pretty well, and we could put in another bike if we needed.

Looks like I need to add a photo to my site.

One other thing comes to mind regarding trailers: You can sink a lot of unecessary money into them and you can't ride them nor use them all the time. I remember going to races in the 70's where you were styling if you brought your bike on a 3 rail trailer or in a new pickup truck. Nowdays--you are not styling unless you have a 35' motorhome and a 28' trailer, running dual generators with AC in both the motorhome and trailer! TV's, Playstation, computers, stereos, lots of bling--but what is their house like? A trailer? A tract house in a PUD? Is that ALL they do? It is really nice to look at all the sano setups at the track--the ones at a recent Loretta's regional blew me away! All that for a little kid who is going to finish like 36th in TN then go on to college. Most people cannot deduct this stuff on their taxes (legally)--I can't--and believe me--I sure would like to! So I go for the cheap fixes--yard sale and used office supply for the cabinets and shelving. And make it all removeable so the trailer can do double duty--like haul skiing equipment and food for 30 people for a ski trip to Dillon, CO. Some of the websites posted above are really nice--but check the prices for the oil rack and the modular cabinets. $185.00 for a door rack! I got a wire 3 shelf deal at Menards for $14.00. Aluminum paper towel rack? Use a coat hanger or a plastic one from the grocery store. $1,000.00 for aluminum cabinets? $30.00 used office supply. Money in the bank for riding trips!
I am not going to do a top end job for my son's bike between motos nor tear down the tranny or clutch--so I don't need a 5' tall rolling Craftsman tool chest in the trailer either. If we break on a trail ride up north--we go canoeing or fishing or something to finish out the weekend then do repairs when we get back. But we have not gotten a chance to wet a line or paddle because we ride BLUE ones!

Rudy,
I like the perspective on the trailer thing. You had laughing out loud on the motorhome/trailer convoy. I bought a 6x12 trailer for the bikes for when my son and I go ride and race. Basic, not fancy, but functional. I like to keep all of the gear in there so I do not have to load and unload every time. I do not need a powerwasher, Honda generator, sleeping quarters, etc. I have the old plactic milk crates I use for oil, lube, gloves, goggles, etc. I am going to build a small bench to sit on while changing clothes and have enough room under to slide the crates in out of the way. It works just fine and I can still justify the $$ I put into it because it is minimal. Keep the rubber side down...

Motorhome is the only way to go. I just got a 32' with 22000 miles, $28,000. I couldn't get a truck or SUV with that mileage for the same money. That plus a $1000 utility trailer and I'm stylin at the race. Plus its great to go in and watch football between motos!
