Im not looking to lower the bike, but I only rode like 70 or 80 miles on sunday and my A$$ was starting to hurt .
Does anyone make a gel seat that is not lowered? Do the gel seats make a diff?
Any other solutions ? Diff. foam? :excuseme:

I'm with ya, I got some serious monkey butt going on from my last ride. Is there a solution, or do I just need to ride more?

Do a search on the Gel Seats.
You;ll find that most guys think the Gel Seat is less comfortable than stock.
Others, like myself only use them because we are short

I don't know yet, but I just ordered the gel seat from Suzuki. The dealer here matched the Ron Ayers price. Should be here in about another week or so. I'll let yoiu know then.

save your money. I have the gel seat and as an added bonus
they get hotter than hell if you park in the sun. first day I rode it to work was 100+ I actually had to get off the bike and stand beside it in traffic much to the amazment of fellow commuters.I have no idea how hot it was when I first got on it but it burned me through my levis.this was not a good thing but on the other hand its a bit lower than stock.I have been suggesting that corbin make a seat for this bike but no luck in they two years ive owned the drz.
Only one word - Vaseline. Nuff said...
I'm 6'1"/245lbs (today )...I have a 32" inseam...so you can imagine what that "generously" padded 2x4 of a seat feels like to me as I compress it...monkey butt?...no, try gorilla butt ...so this is what I do whenever I ride my KLX: I wear padded bicycle shorts as part of my riding gear...it helps take the "edge" off when my mass compresses the seat foam to the seat base...still not the most comfortable position to be in, but at least I can go a tankful in relative comfort...and by that time, I have to stop, get off, uncap the tank, etc., and I'm ready to go.
If I go with the IMS 4.2 tank, a better seat would be needed to make it through a tankful without stopping, though.

If your not looking for a lower seat but a more comfortable one, get an SDG. It looks like the standard DRZ seat but has a gripper cover and is way more comfortable. It also comes in the taller version for you extra long legged folks.

They work well to lower you.
They are much more uncomfortable!
I would compare sitting on the Gel seat, to sitting on a rag folded and layed on top of the frame :moon:

I had one and all it is good for is to lower the bike the gell tries to make up for what you loose in foam to lower the seat hight

There are 2 gel seats available fron Suzuki- one standard height and one lower. The lower gel seat is all black and the standard is two tone black with yellow sides. I am 6'5 300lbs+ with full gear and I love my STANDARD height gel. I swap to the stock 2x6- I mean seat- sometimes when I am in SM trim and that thing kills me! I must say though that after the first year of hard riding I had to pull the cover off and re-glue the gel in place as it was shifting- no big deal.
P.S.- the best mod for long rides was wider footpegs- then standing longer is not bad.

Take off the boxer shorts or briefs. Instead, wear padded bicycle shorts under your pants. It works!

The best fix for those who think they need softer seat foam on their DRZ:
Sit on a stock KTM! Compared to their seats, your DRZ will feel like a waterbed.

How true. I have a friend in Colorado with a KTM 520,seat feels like a 2X4. After riding my bike with the SDG seat, he ordered one that afternoon. Those Yamaha's saddles aren't the softest either. :D

I just returned the lowered gel seat to Suzuki. It was exactly like a folded rag laid on top of the frame. I only lasted about 14 miles with it on. The gel wasn't thick enough and you could feel the plastic underneath on the sides as it dug into your legs. Now if that same seat had two inches of dense foam underneath, it might not have been so bad. Fact was it was too little gel and not enough foam. Additionally, the foam seems to tranfer more vibration to your butt, don't ask me why, but it does. On my bike, I figured it lowered the seat about 3 inches.
