Supermoto Race & Festival Speeds into Cleveland’s Northcoast Harbor August 6-7 For Round 2 of 2005 Pro-Am NASMOTO Grand Prix
Cleveland OH – June 16, 2005 – The ultimate in motorcycle racing – Supermoto – will rock and roll downtown Cleveland on August 6-7 when the second round of the AMA sanctioned 2005 Pro-Am NASMOTO Grand Prix hits the Lake Erie waterfront adjacent to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
North American Supermoto will stage the NASMOTO Grand Prix of Cleveland on a custom-built, spectator-friendly track at Northcoast Harbor. The weekend will be packed with additional entertainment, including live music, freestyle motocross exhibitions, demo rides and much more.
The sport of Supermoto originated with the “ABC Superbikers” TV show of the late ‘70s and has since become a worldwide phenomenon, combining the jumps and slides of dirt-track motocross with the blazing speed and low-lean turns of motorcycle road racing. The goal is to determine the best overall rider, meanwhile thrilling fans with all the motorcycle racing elements they love most. (For more on the history of Supermoto, visit www.nasmoto.com.)
Also on tap for the weekend is the TNT Freestyle Moto-X Show, highlighted by the unbelievable aerial tricks of Tommy “Tomcat” Clowers, a three-time X Games gold medallist, and “Full Tilt” Jeff Tilton with his legendary No-Handed Whip stunt. With the Great Lakes Science Center as a backdrop, both riders will be defying gravity and the laws of physics while catching huge air on the famous Red Bull freestyle ramps.
The NASMOTO Grand Prix of Cleveland is designed to be an affordable family festival, with ticket prices starting at just $15 and free admission for kids under 6. Live music and DJ’s will provide entertainment each day from noon to 5pm. Food and beverage concessions will be available for purchase by Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. Free motorcycle demo rides will also be offered by participating KTM dealerships. Demo riders must have an existing motorcycle license and supply their own protective riding gear.
NASMOTO Grand Prix of Cleveland is funded in part by KTM dealers of Ohio, Ohio Technical College’s PowerSports Institute, Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners Jimmy Dimora, Timothy F.
