Taking place May 04, 2008 (Single Day Event)
Well, here it is, the highlight of my off-road riding every year, the
Family Fun Trail Ride.
If I had to choose every summer between this and going to Colorado, I would choose this.
It's scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Aonia Pass Off-Road Park near Washington, GA.
Who?, What?, Where?, When?, Why?, How Much?, How Far?, How long to get there?, What road do I take? (click on the map), all answered at our newly refurbished web site explaining all about it: http://www.familyfunride.com/
If you plan to bring children (at least 6 years old, under 18 years old) to ride for whom you are not the parent or legal guardian, please read this page: http://www.familyfunride.com/rules.htm
and download these forms and have them signed by both parents and notarized: http://www.amadirect...ffRoadMINOR.pdf
Not notarized = no ride
I hate to see a child disappointed by not being allowed to ride. Gotta do the paperwork in advance if Mom or Dad are not going to be there. Uncle Bob can't sign for Dad.
The ride will be AMA sanctioned this year, but AMA membership is not required to ride. However, proof of AMA membership will get you a gift courtesy of Scott USA.
For a report on last year's event, look here: http://www.georgiaof...pic.php?t=22214
During the recent GNCC race at Aonia, our trail blazer, the famous Don Lilley, was in the woods marking our "secret" trails (not before or after the race, during the race). This property is only open for trail riding for six special events each year. The Family Fun Ride is one of the six events.
If you want to know why we do it, besides being so much fun, well, it's hard to tell the whole story here. Watch the video here: http://www.dreamhous....org/index.html
Laura Moore, the founder and leader of the Dream House is one incredible woman. I am in awe of what she has done. She has changed the laws of Georgia to get the bureaucracy out of her way so she could help these children. She was chosen as ABC News Person of the Week. (wait for the 20 sec. ad to finish, then watch the video) http://abcnews.go.co...ndex?id=2774657
And I personally know of one beautiful little girl who would not be alive today without her.
Oh, by the way, we are going to give away a brand new Yamaha motorcycle at the event!
I have also heard we have some goggles autographed by some famous supercross pro stars. And we're working on some other stuff.
It's not hard to ask 10 friends to sponsor your ride for $15 each. If you tell them the story, you will be surprised how quickly it will come.
You can download a flyer here: http://www.familyfun...m/2008flyer.pdf
You can download a brochure about the Dream House to take on your fundraising trip around the neighborhood here: http://www.dreamhous.../dhpamphlet.pdf
So, get busy raising some money and bring it with you to the ride. If you cannot attend, please help us by making a donation here: http://www.active.co...e/familyfunride
Other volunteer groups put on concerts and dances and golf tournaments and wine tastings to help the Dream House, but over the past five years, the motorcycle community has raised more than any other group. Let's keep it that way!
Our primary financial sponsor in prior years was not able to help us any at all this year, so any help you can give would be most appreciated.
Of course I can never anticipate every question, so ask away.
